7-CHLOE

Chloe waves goodbye to flowing locks for charity

CHLOE Carmichael, an S4 pupil at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School in East Kilbride put herself through a hair raising experience—chopping ten inches off her locks to raise money for cancer charities.

She raised £6,260 for Cancer Research UK, MacMillan Cancer Support, St Andrew’s Hospice and Live it for Lee.

The last of those was set up by the family of East Kilbride boy Lee Jamieson, who died of blood cancer in 2014, aged 14.

Chloe’s hair sacrifice added £550 to her total, and follows a  pyjama walk, lunches and coffee mornings, bake sales, a sponsored ‘stay awake,’ and a meet and greet she organised with singer Nicholas McDonald.

“This is a tremendous achievement,” headteacher Fiona Mullen said. “We are very proud of Chloe’s efforts and commitment to helping others.

“Through her energy, tenacity and dedication, the impact of her charitable work will be felt by a large number of people and worthy causes.”
