Pope invites Pontifical Scots College community for private audience

Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow and Archbishop Leo Cushley to join clergy and seminarians for meeting tomorrow

The staff and seminarians of the Pontifical Scots College in Rome are to have a private audience with Pope Francis tomorrow.

The Holy Father invited the college community to a private audience in the Apostolic Palace to mark the 400th anniversary of the mission oath, which marked the establishment of the college as a seminary.

Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow and Archbishop Leo Cushley of St Andrews and Edinburgh are at the Scots College at the moment, and will also be in attendance at the audience tomorrow.

“The college community feels honoured and privileged to participate in this audience with Pope Francis,” Archbishop Tartaglia said. “It is an inspiring and insightful moment for the seminarians as we mark the 400th anniversary of the mission oath and the martyrdom of St John Ogilvie. The audience is an expression of our loyalty to the Successor of Peter, and of our desire to serve the Church.”
