7-Gerard-Kelly

Actor’s funeral to be held on Friday

Funeral Mass of Glasgow-born actor Gerard Kelly will take place at St Aloysius Church

The funeral of actor Gerard Kelly will take place at St Aloysius Church, Glasgow at 10am on Friday.

The Glasgow-born actor died on Thursday October 28 after suffering from a brain aneurysm.

Following the funeral Mass the cortege will drive slowly past the city’s King’s Theatre – where Mr Kelly performed in pantomime for many years—on its way to Daldowie Crematorium.
Gary Barak, speaking in behalf of the family, said: “We request that no flowers are to be sent and instead we are arranging, in conjunction with the King’s Theatre, a fitting tribute to Gerard.
“We all think this is exactly what he would have wanted and as well as the tribute, funds will also go towards the restoration of the King’s Theatre in Gerard’s name.”

Mr Barak also confirmed that a memorial service for Mr Kelly, organised by his family and closest friends, will take place at the King’s Theatre early next year.

  1. Gary says:

I have just received this and the funeral was obviously last year. I think it’s a bit late to run such a story and it may cause stress to those close to Gerard.

Gary, the story and tribute to Gerard Kelly was also published last year in the Scottish Catholic Observer, as the story date shows. Regrettably it would seems that internet search engines are just finding the SCO online archive now. Hopefully the situation will catch up with itself soon and stop showing current dates prior to opening links to archive stories.
