7-ST-LUKE'S-NEW-CHAPLAIN

A warm welcome for new priests

Pupils at St Luke’s High School, Barrhead had a busy term prior to the Christmas holidays but were able to welcome Bishop Philip Tartaglia of Paisley for the celebration of Mass.

Many parents, staff, pupils and members from the parish community gathered to listen to the bishop share his thoughts about the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in September.

During an exciting time, the school has also had to embrace change with the departure of Fr Stephen Baillie who now becomes chaplain to St Andrew’s Academy, Paisley.

During the school’s annual award ceremony, Patricia Scott, St Luke’s headteacher, presented the outgoing chaplain with a beautiful icon of the school’s patron as a memento of his time with the school community.

The St Luke’s Mass also provided the school community with an opportunity to welcome the new school chaplain, Fr Eoin Patten together with new parish priest at St John’ s Barrhead, Fr Paul Brady.
