Re American vice-presidential candidates. Guess what! For the first time both candidates for vice-president are Roman Catholics. And interestingly enough,both have had a few public disputes with the bishops. VP Biden has even been denied communion in two or three ecclesiatical jurisdictions, under Canon 915 becuase of his stands on abortion and same-sex marriage. (He is allowed to receive,both in Washington,DC,and in home diocese of Wilmington,DE.) Ryan has engaged in some public debates with Cardinal Dolan and others on social welfare and budget issues.
