6-A-MORNING-WITH-MARY

Enjoying A Morning with Mary at St Brendan’s, Yoker

St Brendan’s Church, Yoker, played host to several neighbouring parishes recently to celebrate A Morning with Mary, presented by the Fatima Devotion Team.

During the celebration of Mass, which is the central focus of the morning, Fr James Cosker, concelebrating with Fr Paul McAlinden, St Brendan’s parish priest, asked the adults and children present to remember Our Lady’s message at Fatima, to pray the Rosary for peace in the world.

Prior to the Morning with Mary, members of the Fatima team had visited St Brendan’s Primary School at the invitation of Donal Currie, headteacher, to tell the children of the events in Fatima in 1917 when Our Lady Came to Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta and asked them to pray the Rosary every day.

A member of the team commented that they ‘were very encouraged to see how many children had a Rosary’ and that they ‘quite obviously prayed it regularly.’

During the Mass, the children read the Liturgy of the Word, offered the prayers of intercession and led the congregation in the Rosary after Mass was over.

At the conclusion of Mass, Fr Cosker blessed almost 100 roses, which the children, alongside their headteacher, distributed to the congregation for themselves or to take to the home of a sick person.

After the presentation on the Fatima message, which followed refreshments in the hall, people were asked to discuss the message amongst themselves and suggest an answer to the question: Why did Our Lady come to Fatima?
