Scots seminarian to priest story to be televised on Christmas Day
A BBC documentary based around the Pontifical Scots College in Rome and some of its seminarians, and featuring Argyll and the Isles’ newest priest Fr Ronald Campbell, will be premiered at a screening in Benbecula next week.
A preview screening of Sgoil nan Sagart (Priest School), a three-part series for BBC ALBA, is set to take place in Sgoil Lionacleit, Benebecula on Tuesday December 17 at 7pm, featuring Fr Ronnie’s last year as a seminarian, his ordination and life as a newly ordained priest.
The preview screening is being organised by Solus Productions, who filmed the documentary, and a limited amount of tickets are available for the showing.
The programme is due to be broadcast on BBC Alba on December 25, 26 and 27 at 8.30pm. Tickets for the screening are free and are available on Facebook or by email.
Wonderful experience
Solus Productions Ltd was founded in 2009 by director Tony Kearney and producer Jim Webster.
They are an independent television production company that specialises in original stories for UK, as well as international audiences.
Tony Kearney, director of Solus Productions said: “Filming this documentary in Rome and Benbecula was a wonderful experience which reinforced the universality of the Church. It was a privilege to follow Fr Ronald on the path to ordination and to bring that journey to a wider audience through the first ever BBC Alba and BBC Scotland co-production.”
