Pilgrims take step towards St John Ogilvie memorial

Campaigners are taking another step on the road to a St John Ogilvie memorial statue at Glasgow Cross, as they host a sponsored walk on the Ogilvie Way to fundraise for the fantastic initiative.

Ogilvie Way pilgrims will meet at the saint’s shrine at St Aloysius’ in Garnethill and travel across the city to the parish of the miracle, St Jude and St John Ogilvie’s, via Glasgow Cross where the saint was martyred.

The pilgrims will travel through some of the city’s most historical sites, in what are underdeveloped areas surrounding Glasgow Cross.

Those taking part will gather on Saturday September 30 at St Aloysius’ for Mass at 8.30am, before setting off for St Andrew’s Cathedral in Glasgow, where they will pray the Rosary at 9.40am.

The traditional Angelus will be prayed at St Alphonsus in the Barras at 12 noon, before pilgrims pray the Rosary once again at St Michael’s Church, Parkhead, at 1.20pm.

The walking group will then pray the Rosary every hour afterwards until 3.20pm, firstly at St Barnabas’ Church, Shettleston and then at St Paul’s Church in the town.

The Ogilvie Way will conclude with a Holy Hour at St Jude and St John Ogilvie’s, Barlanark, at 4pm, before refreshments.

All are invited to welcome the walkers at each of the stops, join with them in prayer, and sponsor them on their journey.
