Community in mourning for tragic footballer Kieran, 13
Funeral today at St Edwards’ Church Airdire.
A TALENTED young footballer from St Margaret’s High School, Airdrie tragically died after he collapsed during training.
Kieran McDade, 13, collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest during training with Dunbeth Football Club in Coatbridge.
Despite efforts to save him, he passed away after remaining in a coma for a week, a loss that has left people in his community devastated.
Tributes have been flooding in for the Celtic supporter, with a number of Celtic and Rangers fans as well as local football clubs paying tribute to Kieran, pictured.
His family also revealed that his organs had been donated and saved the lives of two people in need of transplants.
A statement on the club’s Facebook page said: “He has left us with cherished memories but ones that will forever be tinged with sadness that he is not here to relive them with us.”
His sister Amy also thanked those who have offered support, saying: “My family would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the overwhelming prayers and support you have given us. Our beautiful boy is now with the angels and will forever live on in our hearts.
“Kieran’s mum and dad would like to thank his friends for the amazing things you have done for him. We now know how loved he truly is.”
Kieran’s school, St Margaret’s High School in Airdrie, held a Mass in his memory, with pupils also having the opportunity to bring flowers to the Oratory and sign the Book of Condolence.
