Double your money for SCIAF, but only before May 17

All Wee Box donations need to be received by the Catholic charity by May 17 to qualify for fund matching by the UK Government

SCIAF is urging its supporters in parishes and schools to send in their Wee Box donations before the May 17 to make sure all they give will be doubled by the UK Government.

This year the charity’s Lent appeal qualified for an aid-match scheme which means that every £1 given before the deadline will be matched by government funding.

SCIAF Director Alistair Dutton is urging parishes and schools to send in money raised as soon as possible to make the dealine this month.

“We’re extremely thankful to everyone who’s helped our Wee Box appeal this year—we’ve had a fantastic response,” he said. “But the clock is ticking. Every £1 you give before the May 17 will go twice as far, helping more people in need. So please empty your Wee Box today and send in what you’ve raised, including any money from events and collections in your school or parish.”

Mr Dutton said the donations would be ‘helping women farmers in Africa to grow more food, earn money to support their children, and play an active part in their communities.’

“Your donations will pay for the seeds, farm tools and training they need to create a brighter future for themselves,” he added. “Thank you to everyone who’s making this year’s appeal a great success,” he said.  “Together, we can help more people to free themselves from the hunger and hardship of poverty.”
