Knights help with UK tour of Our Lady of Gaudalupe relic

By Tom Knight

The Knights of St Columba have signed an agreement with the Guardians of Our Lady of Gaudalupe to organise and co-ordinate visits of the relic across mainland Britain and the Channel Islands.

Charlie McCluskey, supreme knight of the order, met with Andrew Hinde, national no-ordinator of the Guardians of Our Lady of Gaudalupe, in St Alphonsus Church House in Calton, Glasgow, on Wednesday, to formally sign an agreement.

Also present at the meeting were many members of the Knights and Fr Ian Bathgate, SX, a chaplain of the order, who has a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe from his time as a missionary in Mexico.

Mr Hinde, who had travelled from the Our Lady of Gaudalupe national shrine in Bedford for this occasion, said: “I bring you greetings from the Guardians of Our Lady of Gaudalupe. It is a fantastic privilege for me to be here to see the workings of your organisation, which I hold in the greatest respect.”

Andrew Hinde then presented Charlie McCluskey with a home shrine Triptych, which is the symbol of the home shrine family and is a devotion which promotes praying the Rosary for life, family vocations, brotherhood and community.

Dates and locations for the relics visits will be announced later.
