Two Catholic MSPs promoted in Nicola Sturgeon’s cabinet

Two Catholics have been promoted to the Scottish Government cabinet by new First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Perthshire South and Kinross-shire MSP Roseanna Cunningham (above) is the new Cabinet Secretary for Fair Work, Skills and Training having formerly been Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs.

Falkirk MSP Michael Matheson is now Cabinet Secretary for Justice having impressed as minister for public health.

The first minister’s new cabinet is the first to be equally split between men and women since the Scottish Parliament was established.

Revealing her cabinet at her official residence Bute House, Ms Sturgeon said: “This new Cabinet is a team of all the talents, which will take forward this Government’s priorities for Scotland’.”
