Scots welcome on Walsingham pilgrimage

Transport available for young Scottish Catholics who wish to attend the larget annual Catholic youth festival in the UK later this month

Young Scottish Catholics are planning to be in Walsingham for the Youth2000 festival later this month, and are encouraging more pilgrims to join them.

The Youth2000 event, based at the Catholic shrine of Our Lady, Walsingham, will attract pilgrims from all over Britain for the five-day festival. The contingent from north of the border will make sure Scotland is represented as young Catholics continue the spirit of renewal and prayer shown at WYD2013 in Rio.

With a packed schedule of events including talks, adoration, workshops, meditation, worship and sports and socialising, over 1000 Catholics aged between 16 and 30 are expected to take part, sleeping under the stars in tents.

Buses will leave Scotland on the morning of Thursday August 22 and will pick-up pilgrims in Edinburgh, Falkirk and Glasgow before it begins its journey south, with spaces are still available for any last minute additions to the group.

The transport which will be back in Edinburgh by 10pm on Sunday August 25, will cost between £30 and £40 and places can be booked by paying a £20 deposit before Friday August 16.

A donation of £100 is recommended on admission to the festival (£60 student/unwaged) and covers the cost of all meals, refreshments, accommodation, speakers and workshop leaders, equipment, insurance and resources.
