Tenth birthday for Scottish charity
Mary's Meals marks anniversary with the launch of a film of its work
Scottish charity Mary’s Meals will celebrate its tenth anniversary this Sunday with a special event at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall.
The Dalmally-based charity (above) provides a daily meal for more than half a million hungry school children in poor parts of the world, work which is the focus of a new film documentary Child 31, which will premiere at this Sunday’s celebration.
Ahead of the event, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, Mary’s Meals founder, spoke about Child 31, the cast of which includes Paisley actor Gerard Butler.
“I am especially excited about this ten year celebration event as it will be the first time we are able to share with you the new film about our work,” Mr MacFarlane-Barrow said. “Child 31—a compelling 30-minute documentary which tells the uplifting and inspiring stories of the children who receive Mary’s Meals—was made by a renowned New York-based production company and I would be delighted if you would join us for this, its UK premiere.”
At Sunday’s event, there will also be a number of interesting stalls, an array of refreshments, live musical entertainment and a selection of specially invited guest speakers.
