Parliamentary motion in praise of Wishaw’s St Aidan’s High
An MSP has praised St Aidan’s High School in Wishaw for its work in promoting the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle to its pupils
The Wishaw school was last week awarded the prestigious Scottish Education Award 2012 for Health and Wellbeing at a ceremony at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel (above.)
Assessors from the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland visited St Aidan’s last month to view the work being undertaken to encourage health promotion and personal support for young people at the school through its buddy scheme.
Clare Adamson, SNP MSP representing Central Scotland, has this week lodged a parliamentary motion, which highlights and praises the achievements of St Aidan’s to Ms Adamson’s fellow MSPs.
That the parliament congratulates St Aidan’s High School in Wishaw on winning the Gold Health and Wellbeing Award at the Scottish Education Awards 2012 for its buddy scheme and health promotion; considers that St Aidan’s High School is a worthy winner commended by the judges for its dedication to promoting positive relationships and developing pupil confidence; commends the school for working on the principle of developing the whole student and recently creating the motto that no pupil is to be anonymous in St Aidan’s High School, and acknowledges the efforts of pupils and teaching and support staff in the school who put this ethos into practice every day,” Ms Adamson’s motion, which has received widespread support from fellow MSPs across the parties, reads.
“I am delighted to be able to highlight these tremendous achievements by all in St Aidan’s High School who have worked so hard and with such vision to create a positive, caring and healthy ethos in the school,” Ms Adamson added.
