Council workers accused of sectarian comments on Facebook
Police have begun an investigation into two Stirling council workers who allegedly posted sectarian comments on Facebook.
The two men are employed at Stirling Council and are said to have posted anti-Catholic comments.
They both work in the building services department and are in their mid-20s. The investigation was begun after a complaint was made. The Facebook pages upon which the comments were made mentioned the men worked for Stirling Council and carried the authority’s livery.
On one social media site one of the men is seen singing the anti-Irish The Famine Song at Ibrox, which is now banned at the stadium.
Central Scotland Police said: “Two men aged 24 and 25 are the subject of an ongoing police inquiry and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
